CBS Prepares Hawaii 5-0 Comeback - Page 2

The CBS website has previews of the new Fall Shows.

They have a video of Hawaii Five-0's new opening. It looks to me like they took the elements from the 1968 version of the opening titles and updated it scene for scene. I was amused by the siren lights on the side of the bike at the end too!

There's also a video preview of the show with clips from the show and behind the scenes stuff too. Nice to see Grace Park working. Not sure I like the updated Danno.

These are located on the second page:

One thing is assured.  Grace Park = still wicked hot.  A shot with lots of her in bikinis?   Please.  I'll at least give it a try.

Just watched the clips.  Looks like it will NOT be a CSI clone.  Thank the Lord.  I have gotten tired of those.  Lots of action and the opening credits definitely remind me of the original opening.  Looking forward to this, but am afraid like all remakes it will not catch on.

It sucks that you have to sit through an ad just to watch an ad for a new show.

Glad they kept the song.

What's the deal with Alex O'Loughlin, some sort of contract where they have to put him in a new show every year until one finally makes it?

He's a decent actor, I loved Moonlight, even Three Rivers was OK, but it seems like he's the kiss of death to any show he's involved with.

He may have been in other things that were successful, but I've never seen him except in the flops, even the recent movie with Jennifer Lopez was kind of a dud.

It's been noted that Nina Tassler, head honcho at CBS, likes Alex O'Loughlin.

Quote:

THR: "Hawaii Five-O" will be Alex O'Loughlin's third series on CBS in three years. So I assume you're thinking, "Right guy, wrong shows so far"?

Tassler: We definitely think he's the right guy. He's certainly an incredibly talent, but we've also watched him develop and evolve. In our business, actors being given opportunities usually bodes well. George Clooney did well with all the chances he was given.

I don't think I've ever seen this O'Loughlin in anything. What I saw of him as McGarrett didn't impress me. But I also have the long shadow of Jack Lord as the prototype in my mind. So like Chris Pine taking on Kirk from Shatner, it will be hard for me to accept this guy as McGarrett. Unless he's playing his son. Which I heard was the case for some of the characters, they are the children or relatives of the original characters. But I don't know how that applies to McGarrett.

I'll give this new show a look, but I don't have any expectations.

I don't think he's anything special.  Most everything he's been in has bombed (TV...Moonlight/Three Rivers...and movies...Whiteout/The Back-Up Plan). Not sure why they keep casting him in everything.

Like the quote a few posts back said "Right guy, wrong shows." The only thing I've seen him in was an arc on The Shield but he was really good on that show.

I will give the show a try.  I liked the actor in Moonlight.  hopefully this will turn out to be a decent show.  I am still watching season 1 from the original on dvd.

I'm still confused as to whether Alex is playing the same character as Jack Lord, or his son. I've heard both, even though since they have characters like Danny and Chin Ho, you would think it would be the original McGarrett, not a son that was never mentioned before.

I am pretty sure he is playing the Jack Lord role...

If anyone has not seen the opening credits yet for the new show.  Here you go:

..nevermind I see it was already posted.  I think they did a good job with it, although i wish it was a tad longer. But, it is longer than most opening credits these days. I hope they can bring back the theme song aspect to TV.
