The Sand Pebbles - Menu on Blu Ray Disc

I just picked up the blu-ray disc of "The Sand Pebbles".

The film looks great.

But the opening menu screen appears to have a god-awful scratch on the left side of the screen.

Has anyone else noticed that?

I'm surprised that Fox didn't clean that up.

It's intentional.  supposed to make the screen look like a painting

Intentional or not, it's an eyesore.

At least I know I didn't get a faulty disc.
