hi,
I have a Yamaha 365 and dream speakers and sub.
When I haven’t got a aerial cable plugged into either the DVD recorder or the TV the sub works perfect, but as soon as I plug the aerial into either the TV or DVD recorder the sub makes a continuous humming noise.
Have taken the sub and receiver in to be looked at but they can’t find any problem in either of those units,
anyone have an idea as to what the problem is
thanks shane

Sounds like a grounding problem. I suggest making sure the outlet you are plugging your equipment into is properly wired (most hardware stores carry a device like this) and all equipment is attached to the same electric phase (use one properly sized circuit for all equipment). Also, I suggest adding a ground to your antenna (see example here). Be CAUTIOUS of electric shock hazards when working with electrical and antenna connections.
thanks for the info,
read up on the problem and one suggestion was to run the aerial through a surge protection board and all is good with the sub now.
so thanks again for the info.
