bluray 5.1 out into an older preamp with 5.1 input

Hi everyone. I have been out of the HT loop for a few years now but want to get back in with all the new HD formats. My question is what is a good bluray player with 5.1 output that I can feed into my AVP2+6 so I can enjoy lossless audio from TruDD and DTS-HD? Also what about bass management? Do the 5.1 output of a bluray player just route all sub 100 (or 80) Hz signals to the sub or are the high pass frequencies adjustable? I am completely clueless as to the new audio formats. Please help me sort this out with some good recommended bluray players. Also I understand that the ultimate audio quality will now depend on the DACs of the BDP instead of the AVP's so are there some BDPs that excel in this area?

Please help.
Yogi.

Check out the Oppo BDP-83. It has analog 5.1 output and is a highly rated blu ray player

I agree with the Oppo. I plan to have one by the first of November, myself. Can't wait.

Only a couple of the real expensive models of BD players offer bass management. For the rest, I've read that people set the bass setting up about 10db, when doing the level settings in the player's setup menus. You do need to set distances and levels, in the player, since it does the processing  (instead of the receiver), when using the multi-channel analog outputs.
Good luck!

BD players have improved in their processing abilities significantly since I got my Sony BDP- S300. All I can set in it is 2 channel or 5.1 channel, then select whether I have surrounds and a sub and if my mains are large or small. Sony didn't see the need for distance or level settings which is the only caveat of this player (other than no onboard DTS-MA processing).

what happens if you disable the sub in the BD player. Does that mean the 0.1 LFE signal gets routed to the other 5 channels? If so I plan on using an outboard ICBM mass management tool and then feed the signal to my AVP2. Do you folks think that its a viable solution?
