I just saw a trailer for this on TV.

Not one of those big movies that are discussed here, but I thought it looked interesting. It is a biopic and we know more or less what happens to her. But I always found her story interesting and admirable for what she did during that period of history.

I don't know much about the film, it looks like a very low key release. Co starring Richard Gere, Ewan McGregor and Virginia Madsen.

-Bump-- in case the 2 or 3 members here who might find this film interesting.

Roger Ebert liked the film, struck the right chord for this bio-pic, in his review.

I really enjoy the biography genre, but everything I've read indicates that Amelia does nothing but recap the basic events of the subject's notoriety. That makes for a poor bio-film IMO. Interestingly even Ebert's review supports this, though he seems to applaud it.

At any rate, 18% on the tomato-meter is enough for me to pass.

I wonder if this little news item was timed to the movie?

I seem to recall at least two tv movie biopics. Of course, Star Trek Voyager revealed her actual fate.

I did a double take recently when I first heard the name of the new helicopter reporter for CBS in Los Angeles.

I thought with a cast like this, it would have potential to be a good little film.

I had not seen that Discovery story before, interesting. I might watch that Voyager episode too!

That's what I thought too. I usually don't let reviews sway me too much but these reviews are pretty rough.

"The 37's"

That Discovery link was interesting, seems to...blah though. I'd think, or maybe hope info like that would be a tab more than a blurb on a website where no one will find it.

The three mains are given nothing to do.  What a shame.  I wanted something that could match my memories of "In Search of."  I went in having read no reviews. I knew Swank was in it and I'd watch her in anything but this film sucks -- period.

There are two good scenes: When Earheart makes her pilot for the Atlantic flight get out of bed.  The other is the Howland Island climax, although it builds to nothing.
