How to mount my TV in my Living Room, Ideas or Solution needed Please.

Short and sweet, I've got a hole above the fire place in my living room for a TV, it's for a small TV, not like my 50" plasma. I have a flat wall mount, just the standard mount you get from Best Buy that tilts about 15* or so. Works great, but I'm a little lost here.

So how can I mount my Plasma over my fireplace in my living room which looks like this:

Thanks for any ideas and help!

If your tv will cover the whole hole above the fireplace, my only suggestion would be to somehow build a support within the box with some 2x4's and mount it that way.

Well, you might be able to get a mount that allows you to swing out or pull out the tv from the wall (like an articulating arm) - so, install it on the back wall and pull the arm out enough to clear the front wall. That is, if the physics work, given the weight of the plasma, distance from the wall, torque on the mount, etc., etc.

A quick google search

But that would leave the hole there, which would probably be visible at the top, or bottom. To avoid that, I suppose you'd have to remove the trim and fill in the hole.

i assume that your pic shows a wall constructed of drywall correct? If so the best way to do this would be to build a 2x4 wall section the size of your opening (inside dimensions) then secure it with lag bolts on all sides, cover it in drywall and paint it to match your walls. If yoiu do it this way at least you know it can support the TV with no problems
