Just finished my basement, prewired with 12 guage speaker wires. 24ftx19ft, 8ft suspended ceilings. Leather sectionals will be about 15ft from tv and 5ft from rear wall. I have $3,500. budget for speakers (5.1), and a avr (7.1). Trying to get the best bang for my bucks in this home theater build up....advice or suggestions will be appreciated...thxs.

I'd recommend these................

and this..............

I think these would be an outstanding combination. Most already know that SVS makes one of the best subwoofers, and everybody I've run across, that has their speaker systems, love them. They also say that SVS has the best customer service, they've dealt with.
Onkyo also gives a lot of bang for the buck. Plenty of power, ease of use, and the Audyssey auto calibration does a great job. One thing about Onkyo though............ don't close it in an entertainment center, or set something on top of it, that will cover up the vents. It needs room to breathe. As long as air can circulate, it will be great.
Good luck with whatever you decide on.

With that budget I would agree with Ed on the Onkyo. I agree with the SVS for the sub for sure. I would absolutely go to a few higher end HT stores (NOT Best Buy and the sort) and listen to as many speakers as you can. Then perhaps demo the SVS (or Axiom, etc) and see if you like them. You have a choice to keep them or send them back.
