Running into problems posting this morning (9/30/09)

I just tried to insert an image in a post in the AHL this morning...only to have the process fail.  Each time I click on the "image icon" the screen would go dark and I would wait for the dialogue box to appear to allow me to enter the image URL..but it never showed up...leaving me at a darkened screen and nowhere to click or any way to get out except to hit my "back" button on my browser.

I tried that a few times with the same results each time and then got the same results when I clicked on the link and video icons.

Yup.  I just tried to add an image in this post and ran into the same problem.

Bugs

Seems to work here.

Oh great.  It must be me.  Guess I should re-boot.

Thanks, Sam.

Hmmmm.  Did a reboot.  Everything else seems to be working fine.

But I am still getting the same problem...even when I click on the smilie button!

Screen goes dark but the dialogue boxes never show up so I need to back out of the page.

I'd post the confused smilie...but I can't!

Mike the same thing happened to me just now posting in testy, tried to post a smiley and the screen went gray and... nothing, waiting and waiting, I had to go back and type the whole bloody thing over again. I don't dare post a smiley here, the whole thing might self destruct or fall apart like a house of cards... [wink]

I'm not alone!   Phew!  There is some comfort in that.

Wait.  It's me and Steve.  Alone.  Together.

HHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLPPPPPPPP!!!

I'd definitely post a winking smilie here if I could, Steve...but I can't.  I am still stymied on all this.

Thanks, though.  Glad to know it's not just me.

;o)     (How's that?)

Haha! I hit the smiley button just now to see what happens and a car backfired outside, made me jump. Yep the screen went dark and I had to go back. Oh well until this latest anomalous anomaly is resolved we can get creative with our doodling   (%

I assume you guys don't have 'Noscript' or something similar running which is preventing you from accessing yahooapis.com

Or perhaps a firewall doing something similar?

Nope.

For the record, I'm running Firefox 3.5.3 on XP.

No and it's not just the smileys, right click and hitting 'paste' will have the same effect, the screen grays and thats your lot unless you go back. And may be others are having the same problem, James Lee in the Polanski thread mentioned that he "can't seem to copy and paste at the moment"

Spellcheck feature just did the grey screen of limbo on me.  A problem with all those buttons maybe?

It all worked fine yesterday too, so no telling me it's my PC/Browsers problem. :P

That's the fact, Jack!    :o)))

Since about half a day, I have exactly the same problems. Haven't rebooted my PC yet (I thought it might solve it, but I simply haven't taken the time to do so yet).

The smilie window appears for a moment - and then disappears again and the grey window will hang. It hasn't changed after the forum software update we had 15 mins. ago. You can get rid of the grey window by hitting "refresh", but of course the text you were typing in the Edit window is gone also after that.

(I create smilies by copying and pasting 'em from other texts.  )

I am now on my second PC of the day (at home...finally!) and am still having the same trouble.

Is anyone looking into this, Cees?!?  (it's the best I can muster under the circumstances)

Well.

Everything seems back to normal.  As Dorothy says in the Wizard of Oz, "People seem to come and go so quickly here."

Yet, not a word from anyone as to what the problem might've been or how it was resolved.  Or why it only affected some people and not others.

Regardless, thanks for getting things back on track.

Yes, working again (and I didn't reboot my PC after all).

Probably one of those things. A corrupt CSS-file, or so. Someone certainly looked into it, Mike!

Next change should be, hopefully: making the displayed avatar a little bit larger (72 x 72 pixels should be fine; it's 50 now).

LOL.  Not that I had any problems (nor was checking HTF at the time),  but can I get honorary membership to that club?

Couldn't resist just responding to the celebratory smileys parade.

Well if it's not one thing it's something else. Now I I'm not getting any email notifications, it started last night, a whole bunch of replies to threads I subscribed to but no email messages of any kind [sniff] why why why? I've resubscribed to a couple of threads. Maybe there'll be an avalanche of email notifications in a day or two?

Only if you have your dancing banana at the right place.
