Help--something weird is going on with my post

Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this.  In Robert Harris' Wizard of Oz thread, I accidently double posted.  When I try to edit the double post, I get thrown out of HTF completely and get taken to an entire different web page.

Robert:

I've sent a "bad post" notice to the admins.  Hopefully, they'll get right on it.

It looks pretty funky on my end.  The bottom box of each post is all wonky and there's a Firefox-like status wheel a-spinnin'.

I just looked at it, and I've never seen anything like it. Both posts are exhibiting the same strange behavior.

Robert, by any chance, were you copying the text (or anything else) from another source? Is it possible that some link or URL got picked up and copied into the post. I realize I'm reaching here.

For now, I'm going to move both posts to a testing area for further study. Try posting a fresh copy as soon as you see them gone.

EDIT: Made it! They should both be out of the thread.

Thanks, Michael.  Yes, I was copying a post I made elsewhere. :)

OK, that probably explains it.

One thing I've discovered on this platform is that it's much more "inclusive" when it comes to cut-and-paste operations. It will accept fonts, formats, graphics, even URLs. I've seen instances where entire messages from other boards have been reproduced here, complete with edit and "report this post" icons linking back to the original source. Something similar must have happened here.

One way to check for this sort of problem is to use the "Source" button at the upper left of the Reply window. It may give you a little too much information, but it'll certainly show you any "hidden" URLs in the text you've pasted. (Just hit "Source" again to restore the prior view.) Sometimes just a post preview will be enough. Anyway, I'm glad we could solve it.
