Warner, think about the following RETAIL releases (collective thread) - Page 3

I should have also included on my wish list THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS, in which ever version survives.

We are hoping for a better economy in 2010, many 2009 DVD sets such as the Looney Tunes Golden Collection & Popeye Cartoons were discontinued.  Plans to start up a 2-disc version of the Looney Tunes sets are in the works for 2010.

The Warner Archive was the logical answer in dealing with the declining DVD retail sales.  The money is just not there right now for expensive restorations of declining DVD sales.  The consumers are the boss, if classic films on DVD start selling better, retailers will stock more titles and Warner Home Video will supply more titles.

Did anybody buy classic films on DVD as holiday gifts for their friends?

Indirectly, yes. A work colleague who is not in the Internet asked me to buy on line for him Calamity Jane and Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. He is giving them as a present to his six year old daughter who loves musicals.

Go on. Admit it! That's cheered you up, hasn't it? A six year old girl loves the old musicals! There's hope for the future after all!

Here you go, here's another great upcoming Warner release. "Gone with the Wind: Making of a Legend"
http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v4_item.asp?item_id=1489440

So I would've thought that should simply be an extra feature on the Gone with the Wind DVD/Blu-ray, but no, apparently it is suitable for its own release.

Here is mine:
To Warner Home Video:
I would like to suggest the re-release of the Oh God! Trilogy (1977-1984) in a 3-disc Blu-Ray combo pack, with special features for each movie.
This year is the 35th anniversary of the release of Oh God!, and that is why the trilogy should be released on Blu-Ray.
English subtitles should be included for all three movies and the special features.
All three movies should be digitally restored and remastered in 1080p HD for Blu-Ray.
For all three movies, the audio should be improved.
All three movies should be in full-screen instead of widescreen, as they were on the DVD releases (2002 and 2005).
The original 1970s/1980s Warner Brothers logo should be included at the beginning of the movies.
Interactive menus and new scene selections should be included for all three movies.
There are some others who would like to see the trilogy on Blu-Ray.
Here is a list of special features:
Oh God! Special Features:
Audio Commentary (from 2002, with Carl Reiner, Teri Garr, and Larry Gelbart)
Text Commentary (Jerry Landers' Trivia Track)

Fullscreen? Why? They were shot to be matted to 1.85:1 for theatrical distribution.

imho if the movie was shot in widescreen that is the way it should be released.

Yes Fullscreen and special edition make no sense. Its like saying VHS with DTS 7.1 lossless audio.

Man, something about that OH GOD! post just seems off. All of that minutiae about the films--television appearances, deleted scenes, galleries, commentaries, original WB logos--and full screen?! rolleyes.gif And, for the OH GOD! series? Not exactly the most critically revered nor fondly remembered films. If I'm wrong, I apologize to "classictvfan91", but it seems a little trollish to me.
