A FOREIGN AFFAIR, TO EACH HIS OWN (which once had a thread of its own), FRENCHMEN'S CREEK, and HOLD BACK THE DAWN also need to be released.  Are there damage issues involved?  Also the remarkable SUPERNATURAL would be a likely candidate for a horror collection.

A Foreign Affair has been released in Region 2. I don't have HDTV, but the quality of the print looks fine to me.

Even if these "intended" horror B-film titles are also available for orders outside the U.S. it will still mean an extra expensive proposition for many of us (ie. the added rate of currency exchange plus the postage and handling charges).  If only these things would be generally retail marketed instead of being made available as designated exclusives.

Right now of the five titles listed THE MAD GHOUL (1943) is the most attractive offering albeit it is really nice to see so much focus on Lionel Atwill the "secondary" screen horror talent at Universal Studios in the 1940s (after Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi and Lon Chaney, Jr.).

I would get them all in a shot if they were generally marketed retail (mainly because of the additional costs that will be involved)!

The latest TCM Now Playing Magazine (November 2009) that I received in the mail today has an ad for these towards the back.  It sound like they are selling it as a Holidays release.

It says it's available but Remember the Night and Universal Cult Horror are not lists yet.  And by the way, TCM has reduced the price of the Warner Archive title to $17.99 for listed price of $29.99.

Isn't it interesting that no mention has been made of the Universal Classics Legacy Series THE WOLF MAN (1941) 2-disc set?!

While a great Universal Pictures 1940s screen horror classic it has previously been issued so many times on DVD and most probably utilizing the identical "unrestored" video transfer that nobody (understandably) really cares.

It hasn't even been afforded a HTF review!

Did anybody here get it?

The release of the Wolf Man Legacy DVD got postponed probably due to the fact that the remake got moved to early 2010 as well.

Well I have ample incarnations of THE WOLF MAN (1941) on DVD already (two actually) and the day it is (finally) made available on Blu-ray format is the day I will buy this again!

No more double-dipping of standard DVD releases for me.  It is time to look to the future of the video-on-disc medium.

Universal has to wait until the next full moon before they re-release The Wolf Man. Has to do with some long-ago tradition. I think there's some kind of poem involved. It's all very  hush-hush stuff. Kind of like the rules for fraternal organizations, the Masons, Scientology, etc--only those who are actually in Universal's inner circle know for sure. Unfortunately, a number of Uni's higher-ups have been going for late evening walks, but haven't been returning. All that's been found so far, in the general vicinity of their homes, is a few strands of mangy hair...looks like the hair of a large dog...

According to posts on the Classic Horror Film Board, the set has been pushed back to Nov. 15 because TCM has been unable to get Universal to fill out the appropriate paperwork.  Seriously.

They dithered over the last clause in the contract:

"...and we hereby allow reproduction of our movies on DVDRs, and by doing so, our souls shall burn in the fires of Hell for eternity. Plus we get 10% of after sales."

I subscribe to TCM's "Now Playing" monthly program guide, and this set is advertised in the November issue.  Clearly, they are (or were?) planning to release it at some point.

This set is now available for order at the TCM website.  Click on the Shopping button in the upper right hand corner.  The set is between the Ma & Pa Kettle set and Esther Williams V2.  Click on the Buy Now button and you're set.  Price is $49.99.  BTW, these appear to be DVD-Rs as this set is part of a new MOD service between TCM and Universal.  The official announcement was posted on the Classic Horror Film Board by the webmaster of Inthebalcony.com.

Lovely! A clone of the Warner Archive. Overpriced DVD-R's that you can only buy from one exclusive provider.

Of course, if they're too expensive or you dislike DVD-Rs, you can always wait until TCM shows them, which they will, and record them yourselves on VHS, which I will.

I checked Sinister and they have Vampire's Ghost as a new release. I'll wait for Sinister to put it on Amazon. They only charge 8.99 on Amazon. Plus you can get free shipping over 25.
