I have a projector that I use for my 95" screen.  The sound system is the Samsung Home Theatre system HT-X350.  I have the HDMI cables going into the the cable box and then run the sound through an optical audio from the Direct TV High Def cable box to the Samsung.  It is the exact set up I used with TIme Warner and had no sound issues at all.

Description of static- Its sound works in cycles it seems.  I will have 3 to 4 minutes of perfect sound with no issues, then i will here static every few seconds for 10 seconds and then it will creshendo like the finale of a fire works show for 10 seconds.  Then perfect sound for another 3 to 4 minutes when the the cycle starts all over.  When I play DVDs or CDs I have to plug the HDMI cables directly into the the Samsung theatre system and there are no issues @ all.

The first thing I thought was the Audio Optical cable, but it worked perfectly with Time Warner and I went out and bought another one and it did not solve the issue.

The Installer w DTV advised he had to use a splitter and I also question his ability to put everything in.
I am thinking about making DTV come out before 90 days are up and letting them have it.

Any thoughts on what it could be???
