Watched HIGHWAY 301 last night.  For a long time I have wanted to see the film and in veiwing it, I discovered that I had seen it many years ago, I guess as a late night movie.  There were two scenes in the film that brought instant recongnition.  The scene with the girl getting out of a locked room and the final hospital scene.

The film has a good transfer with little dirt or damage. The sound was also in good shape.

This was a good film with suspense, but the story line was preditable, possibly from the recesses of my brain, but more than likely the use of well known story telling technics.

Now it is on to PAY OR DIE with the great Ernest Borgnine.

Again, if Warner Bros. ever allows us to choose from all of their Archive titles and get them for this price, I am ready. Otherwise, I reluctantly decline.

Folks, you gotta remember that WARNER ARCHIVE is A SERVICE - and not only are you paying for the film - you're paying for The Service to acccess the "archive" :)

This makes no sense. You are buying a DVD (well DVD-R) plain and simple.

No, it makes sense - it's a service as they are custom making the DVD-Rs "to order for every order". They put it together and they send it out.

Like fast food is "food service" this is "video service" :)

I thought this new thread was for discussing Announcements and New Films. There's a separate thread for bitching, moaning and rending of garments ...

Now if they'll just bundle the Al Jolson titles, they'll have a sale.

What code did you use to get 25% off?

REWARD25....but it looks like it can only be used on these new value packs and not the previous value packs
post #18 of 3333
All the new releases except the Dogville shorts are also 25% off.
I didn't use a code this time. The set was 50% off to start. And i haven't been able to get a new code to work for a few weeks,so  I put it in my cart and it was discounted another 25%.I week ago someone mentioned the insider club at WB.I signed up for it when the Archive started but never really got any new codes or anything from it, So i went to the Archives page and re signed up last week. They have a box that states "get 25% off order"so i clicked on it and it claimed that all i needed to do was put the dvd in my basket and it would be discounted.I tried it last week and it didn't work. But when i put the Taylor set in my basket last night, sure enough another 25% came off.

The first TV series in Warner Archives is available for pre-order with The Eleventh Hour - The Complete First Series (2008-2009).  I'm surprised such a recent series gets DVD-R treatment.

Shucks!  When I first read your post I thought for a split second you were talking about the 60's series.  This is a bizarre choice for the Archives, considering it's a newer show.

Gary "I'm interested to see how many discs they will use" O.
Yeah, at first I was stoked because I thought it was the excellent Wendell Corey series which ran from 1962 to 1964 which Warners also owns the rights to I believe since it was an MGM television show.
I updated year in my initial post to stop confusing people...
The Complete First Season (not Series).

Agreed, this is a very surprising choice for the Archives. You would think that new series like this would be offered on Blu-ray and pressed DVD. Price doesn't seem to be too bad.
But wasn't there only one season of the 2008-2009 show? Why call it that, as if there would be a second? It still could be the Corey series; this is the Warner Archive we're talking about, where mistakes are not unknown to happen...
Universal put out the new Knight Rider as season 1, not complete series as well.  I know they should have called it the complete series, but who knows why the suits do what they do.  I am just glad that a TV series is getting a release in the Archive series.  Now lets see the older shows come out like 77 Sunset Strip.
I am with you on 77 Sunset Strip, Hawiaiin Eye, Bourbon Street Beat, Surfside Six, and a ton of older black & white shows that we do not get a chance to see anymore.

PS - let's add Sugarfoot and Bronco to that list also.

As for as movies are concerened I am anxious to see what next Tuesday brings us and what era will they pull from.

No, it's definitely the newer series.

Heck I'd love to see the rest of Cheyenne and Maverick in the Archive series.
