I did as well and just got the notice it was available for preorder:

http://www.amazon.com/Moulin-Rouge-Blu-ray-Nicole-Kidman/dp/B001G8XON0/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1279208145&sr=8-7

What I haven't seen is an official release date? Is this wishful thinking on Amazon's part or has a date been set?

Date has not been set though it should be

forthcoming very shortly.

Would not be surprised if we see an official

announcement as early as this week or shortly

thereafter.

Gotta say, most all the studios thus far have

not really announced any "meaty" BD catalog

releases for the holiday season. Fox has really

pulled out the stops to ensure that there are some

great fan favorites coming our way.

Assuming a September start to the season, there's a ton of good, well-known catalog:

Forbidden Planet
Mars Attacks!
THX-1138
Breathless
Jacob's Ladder
Se7en
The Twilight Zone: Season 1
American Beauty
Charade
Delicatessen
King Kong (1933)
The Thin Red Line
Beauty and the Beast
The Exorcist
The Maltese Falcon
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
The Darjeeling Limited
Three Kings
Psycho (1960)
Seven Samurai
Back to the Future Trilogy
Paths of Glory
Fritz Lang's Metropolis
The Goonies
Finding Nemo
Fantasia
Fantasia 2000

And that's just what's been officially announced so far!

^ Finding Nemo and the Fantasias were announced by Disney?

Jesse,

I'm not denying that the list of titles you provided

aren't good ones.  You compiling and offering up

that look presents a very compelling list of titles

to choose from.

I am sure you are aware, however, that there has

been some loudly voiced concern about some of

the studios sitting on a lot of catalog product and

dragging their feet in getting releases out on Blu-ray.

I'm simply saying that, in my opinion, Fox has

really pulled out some prime offerings that are going

to easily compete what is being offered by other

studios.  Of course, everyone has different tastes

in film so perhaps not everyone will be as enthusiastic

as I am at this point.
