Time to replace by Elite Receiver

Thread Starter
Hi all.

I've been out of the game for a while and looking for 3 recommendations of receivers to review (brand/model).

I am replacing my Pioneer VSX35 Elite (for sale if there is a market for it).  My needs are as follows:

Inputs - IPOD, Computer (HDMI or DVI and Coax), Blue Ray (HDMI, Optical), UVerse (HDMI, Optical) and WII (Component and L/R Anal) - no need for sat, but i have a subscription to sirius and would choose that if it came down to it.
Output - 1080P 50" Pana Plasma

I have 5 speakers (B&W) all small form factor and 1 powered Velodyne 10" Sub.  No plans for more channels due to room config, although may change speakers in future.

I have 2 speakers on my deck (crappy bose 201 saltwater environment).  Must allow for second source and must have power from the receiver built-in.

Room is 24x16.

Don't want to change the channel of the TV ever.  Prefer upscaling.

Looking for 3 of the most cost effective solutions that meet requirements.  I won't mention price as I am sure the requirements will set that minimum cost for me.  I'm not even sure what is still used for movies (DTS, THX, etc.) so whatever is current that will support my 5.1 speaker set up.

Thanks in advance.

Pioneer, Onkyo and Denon would be the three I would look at.  Probably minimum $1K up to $2K or so.  Right now Onkyo tends to give the most bang for the buck.  Don't just get upscaling, but get good upscaling.  Receivers under $500 have it, but do it badly.
