Onkyo TX-SR606 not displaying blu-ray signal

I'm trying to run a blu-ray player through this receiver but do not get an image. It runs fine when connected directly to the TV. The TV can display a max resolution of 1080i. I want to run the blu-ray through the receiver as I have other devices to connect as well. The TV only has 1 DVI input and no HDMI inputs. I forced both the blu-ray and receiver to output 1080i as well as 720p and that did not work. Any suggestions?

Sorry, Matt, I edited (deleted) my answer because I realized that I did not answer your question--I was focused on something completely different, not the bluray.

Make sure your HDMI Monitor setting is "Yes".

You have to assign the correct HDMI Input to the correct Input Selector.  For example, if your BD is connected to HDMI 1, assign HDMI 1 to the DVD input selector.  Then choose DVD on the remote and you should have video.

Could the issue be with the DVI input? Is it HDCP compliant? Or does it matter?

What was happening was that the receiver was changing the settings of the blu-ray player. When the blu-ray player was connected to the TV I was able to access the menu and force an output of 1080i. Once connected to the receiver the blu-ray was changing back to Auto for its output mode. Auto for the receiver must have been 1080p. Needless to say I was never getting an image when the blu-ray was connected to the receiver. What I had to do was write down the remote control button sequence to access the setup menu and change the output resolution to 1080i. That fixed the problem. The receiver seems to have learned the correct output because when I plugged the blu-ray into different inputs the receiver remembers the new setting. If my TV was not 1080i and rather 1080p I doubt this would have been a problem.
