Please help identifying this movie!

Hi, there's a movie I think I saw on TV way back in the late 90's or early 2000's, but that doesn't mean that's when it was made.

I only saw a few minutes, but it was cute and intriguing. There's a young guy and girl living in one of those small towns where nothing ever seems to happen, and they're walking around looking at the various townsfolk. So being the creative types that they are as the young couple comes upon each one, they both imaginitively make up what that persons life is like or what they're hiding in their secret past and maybe how they relate to the other townsfolk, and as the stories go on they kinda try to one up each other to see who can come up with a better or sillier idea. It's all dialogue, their stories aren't brought to life in any visual sense.

Like I said, it was cute bit and they seemed to have a nice easy chemistry, but I never saw the movie again and for the life of me can't remember what it was. Any help? Thanks in advance.

Hey! Thanks for try fellas. Unfortunately it's not Annie Hall or Rocky 3. It's newer than both films and (at the time) seemed to star a couple of unknowns.

But when you mentioned small town Philly, it triggered a memory... I seem to remember they may have had a bit of an accent, not British, but maybe Australian? Aargh, I could be mixing things up or whatever. I wish I could remember it better!

Before Sunrise? Before Sunset?

I also thought it sounded very similar to Before Sunrise.

Thanks again, but it's not Before Sunrise or Before Sunset. It's not a big well-known movie, that's what leads me to believe that it's possibly foreign (outside of North America) or a smaller independent feature, or even made for television.

Wasn't there a bit like that in the Mike Myers movie "So I Married an Axe Murderer"?

I was just kidding about Rocky III, sorry! Guess I should of said Rambo, would of been more obvious with the joke.

Ha!  Got me.

Oh well, doesn't look like anyone is familiar with this obscure little film, or at least my crappy description of it.
