Nice move, Warner. What a slimeball-ish and weaselly thing to do, making people buy new equipment if they want to own the "special edition" version of a movie generally thought of as a piece of crap (I liked the movie). What does Warner stand to gain from this, they don't even manufacture BluRay players, so why would they push people into the format by employing these tactics? The extras aren't even worth the extra money. The studio seems to be so dismissive of the whole thing that they waited three months to announce the DVD and will release it almost six months (!) after the theatrical release (3 months was the standard). I don't know what to make of this

I felt the same way Luis did when Warners announced a Similebox version of HOW THE WEST WAS WON was going to be a exclusive on Blu-Ray and Fox's decision of releasing the restored special edition of THE ROBE in that format only. I wanted HTWWW in Smilebox and THE ROBE so badly, I went out and bought a Blu Ray player from Costco when it was on sale with a coupon even though I did not have HDTV. Although I was not watching these two movies in high definition on my standard TV after they were released, I was very happy. After only two months, I went out and bought a Samsung 24 inch 1080p HD set and I am glad both Warners and Fox had forced me to buy a Blu-Ray player and eventually a HDTV. Watching movies on Blu Ray and standard DVD at home on my HD set is a very pleasant experience every night and going to a movie theatre is now almost a thing of the past.
