Good news for all us Leon fans. It appears that we'll be treated to both theatrical and extended cuts. Unless they muck it up, I'm all in.

 Well, for "real" Leon fans, a region-free Blu-Ray has been out for some time in France, and it's quite good.

I most certainly hope Léon will contain the isolated score in lossless audio.
The 133m Version Integrale Cut is the version I VASTLY prefer instead of the inferior 110m cut. That, and I'm fans of Jean Reno, Gary Oldman and even Natalie Portman. Let's not forget Danny Aiello either.
There's a reason why I own three different releases of this film too.
By the way, it's not IN Blu-ray disc, it's ON Blu-ray disc. Could a moderator change the Léon part as to how the title should actually be? It should be Léon: The Professional. Or better yet, how about just Léon instead?
Speaking of Jean Reno, I really hope WASABI gets released onto Blu-ray disc soon. Les Visiteurs is already out in France but I dunno how the picture quality is. For RONIN, I'm waiting on a double dip and the same goes for Mission: Impossible.
The Crimson Rivers is already released in France on Blu-ray disc but I forgot if the subtitles are English friendly. I finally saw the sequel on DVD and holy shit, I always choose the original intended languages track, the sound was AWESOME!

You know, I was looking for something to watch the other
day and LEON immediately came to mind.

I was hesitant to watch it, because I thought perhaps there
would be a BD release forthcoming.  However, after some
thought I resolved myself to the fact that it would not happen
this year.  So, I watched one of my all-time favorite films.

Now I hear it's coming to Blu-ray.  Sad that I resolved myself
to watching it on DVD this past week but very happy that
this film is being released in Hi-Def with both versions.

That's funny Ronnie since the other week I was doing image comparisons to the French Blu-ray and one of the Region 1 editions for Leon with my Momitsu and Oppo 980. Although I do already own it I'd still want to buy the upcoming release since I enjoy the movie so greatly. Was it rumored after the movie was released they might've had a prequel and a sequel for when Natalie was all grown up? There was an Empire magazine I owned which had a small blurby article about both.
Maybe it was a rumor. Wasabi was similar also written by Luc Besson and I'm really wanting to buy Le Grande Bleu on Blu-ray. Columbia owns the rights, right? Nikita I own too. Subway with Christopher Lambert was nice but I watched it last when I was very young.

I've read somewhere that this release will only contain the theatrical cut.  If so, I probably won't be buying this release.


Edit: It was Digitalbits that I read about the theatrical cut only, but Bill has since updated his site that the international and theatrical cut will be included in this BR release so I'll be buying it now.

I've got Leon on Blue HD from Play.com about 2 weeks back, it contains both the theatrical and director's extended cuts, plus some great special features

watched it last week, it looked stunning on Blue, although the extra sexuality between Matilda and Leon in the director's cut is a little disturbing

awesome film to say the least

Meh.  The "sexuality", if you could call it that, is actually quite minimal and entirely one-way. Leon sees her as a kid, and in fact treats her like she's a little girl, and it's at least relevant to the plot. Lolita, it ain't.
