Set up help

Hello,

I just bought a Sony DAV-HDX285 home theatre system,hooked it up to the TV and everything is good except one thing!
I currently have Toshiba LCD and use comcast cable so I've been trying to use the system's speakers when I watch cable,but for some reason haven't been able to.

Do you have a cable box or is your cable connected directly to the TV?

A couple of questions:

Do you have a cable box, or is the cable just connected to the TV?  If you have a cable box, what are the make and model?  ("Comcost" cable boxes are generally made by Motorola or Scientific Atlanta/Cisco)

What is the model number of your TV?

If you have a cable box, how do you have it connected to the Sony?

Without this information we really can't begin to analyze your problem.

First off, do you have a cable box and if so what type of audio and video outputs does the box have?

Ok,
I have a comcast cable box model RNG110
My LCD TV is Toshiba 52" model 52XV645U
The system I bought is Sony DAV-HDX285


I've conected my cable box to the TV with HDMI cable 

I've the TV conected to the system with video and audio out(yellow,red and white)

Like I mentioned if I go to video 1 or 2 on the TV I can watch DVDs and play music and the sound is coming from the system's speakers,but when I try to watch cable the sound is from the TV,not the system.

P.S.:The cable box is newer model and has video audio outputs(yellow,red,white) component outputs(green,blue,red) HDMI output, optical output and an USB port.

Connect your cable box to your Sony system using an optical cable.  That will allow you to listen to the audio through your system's speakers.

The TV connection to your system is only active when using the TV's internal tuner.
