TCM HD The Great and not so

While HD Widescreen Movies look fine (Some are non 16x9) The B&W stuff
is another matter,some like Lolita look fantastic,but most apear standard Def
and have a greenish look to them,So don't lose that standard channel ..

There are a lot of thing that can affect how content looks on any screen. The first being the source material, As the old saying goes "Garbage In, Garbage Out"  meaning good source material will get you the best  results. Another thing is the method of recording and encoding the material to HD. The final  and most important is how the tv handles the material.  That's not even counting playing  SD  content on a HDTV . Some tv handle  SD up-scaling better then others Another thing that may help, is getting a calibration dis and tweaking the setting , such as contrast, and balance will help

 Hmm.  Recently watched "Seconds" with Rock Hudson.  B&W, widescreen, seemed to be in HD, and no greenish look.  I think YMMV.
