CBS/Paramount is releasing the first season of the Simon Baker/Dabney Coleman series The Guardian on DVD on October 27.
In the initial announcement for this release, TVshowsondvd.com said the A/V specs said the DVD would be in widescreen.
However, TVshowsondvd.com just posted a new press release which says the show will be in fullscreen.
I thought The Guardian had been broadcast in high def since its debut in 2001, so doesn't that mean there would be widescreen versions of the episodes available? Why would they chose to release it in fullscreen? Or am I wrong about the high def/widescreen broadcasts?
I didn't get my first widescreen TV until a year or so later and then I didn't get a high def receiver for a couple more years after that, so I'm not certain how the show was originally broadcast -- but I have seen tapes from that first season which say "broadcast in high definition where available."
If widescreen is available, then this press release announcing fullscreen is a disappointment.
