Broken computer speakers that I need to make work again

Thread Starter
Let me first clarify that I am a girl so I have no idea what is going on with these speakers I have - so if I am asking a dumb question give me some grace cause like I said, "no idea what is going on."
With that out of the way I have a pair/set of Logitech Z 560 speakers, it consists of one subwoofer and 4 speakers. All the wire coming from the speakers are present and I know how to hook them into the subwoofer. The subwoofer has a power cord coming out of it and. . . that's the end of what is has. There is no way to plug this thing into anything other than the wall. I need to figure out how to make this thing either hook up to a computer again (and I have a mac) or to an ipod - if any of those things are possible. The person who I got the speakers from said that the piece that I need is not sold by Logitech anymore and won't help me fix this cause he'd rather play computer games. Thanks!!

This is what it looks like. . . don't have the controller thingiethough I don't have the controller thingie.

hi
Im quite sure you need the controller.
Your computer's audio output needs to be connected into the controller.

Hi Caitlyn!

Welcome to the HTF!

Unfortunately, I think Gregg is right.  You might check out the Logitech Forums.  CLICK HERE and you can go right to there Speaker forum and check things out.  Good luck!

You might be able to even find a way to get the part you need through their forum...

I hope you didn't pay for them.

HERE'S the MANUAL for the 560s.  It shows how the controller is hooked up to the subwoofer and then to your source.

That forum page lists a pin-out for the connector.  This could allow you to build a controller for your needs.

That URL is an entire forum dedicated to the z-560's.

Hope that helps at least some.
