Entertainment Center using "In-Wall" Speakers

Hello All:
I’m not new to the world of home theater, but not nearly as knowledgeable as you folks. I have recently purchased a new home…sold my old one with my entire HT system included! Bonus for me as I now have a good little chunk of cash to drop on an entirely new system.
I’ve already purchased my new TV (Samsung LN46B750 46 inch LCD) and receiver (Yamaha RX-V765).
My wife has forbidden towers of any sort, she’s not a big fan of bookshelf speakers and built-ins are going to be suspect -  the walls have ¼” painted wood paneling. I’ve not tested it out, but fear that in-wall speakers would create an unacceptable amount of vibration.
So here is what I want to do that should make me and wifey happy…build an EC with the speakers built in using actual “in wall” speakers.
The layout will be nearly identical to thisDRAWING. But I intend on using built ins rather than bookshelf speakers. Im seriously considering buying these 3-WAYS from The Speaker Company (boo-hiss) for my R, L and Center. (Id love to hear some opinions on this company from you guys - it’s hard to argue with the prices and a 30 day money back guarantee).
Anyway, I am open to any and all suggestions for my project, especially those involving the actual mounting of the speakers…box size, foam?  Please help!
Thx

I've used Dayton in-ceiling speakers multiple times for both myself and friends and they are a great value.

If this is the only option then I say go for it.  Dan Marx is always very detailed in his drawings.  I've been thinking about building his TC-3000 sub design.

Sorry to question your wife, but what really is the difference between bookshelf speakers and a unit with built-in speakers, except that it isn't as good and is less flexible?

No worries, John.
I question her daily...she feels that the built-ins look more sleek and in her words, "less cluttered".  She does not want the EC to look like the "focal point of the room."  I'm fine with that, but when I crank this thing up, I want it to be nothing less.

Ahh the life of a husband :)

Could you use bookshelf speakers, but put speaker grill cloth over the shelf they are on to get a built in look?  I don't know your budget, but Atlantic Technology makes some smaller bookshelf sized speakers that sound great, either the 4400 or 2200.  A few years ago we set up a demo room at an event we had at a hotel.  About 40 HTF members where in the room watching movies every night and the 4400s we had set up filled the room! If size and price are a consideration the 2200 series is a good option too.  They make some fantastic in-walls with sealed boxes, but they are expensive, and I'm not sure what your budget is.

We had a demo room last year that SVS set up for us and it sounded great too, and they were a great value for the money.  They may be a bit big for your requirements, but they are worth checking out: http://www.atlantictechnology.com/default.asp?NodeId=149
