Hi everyone, longtime HTF member here with a first time question about my (recently set up) home theater.
I apologize for posting a topic that sounds similar to other topics posted here, but my problem/issue is not regarding audio/video sync issues, but instead a delay before the TrueHD or DTS-MA audio track kicks in, depriving me of sound for the first moments of a film.
Player: Samsung BD4600
Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR606
TV: Samsung UN55B7000
My receiver can decode TrueHD and DTSMA. I can confirm this, because the receiver's display lights up 'True HD' and 'DTSMSTR.' When a film or program first begins, there is a slight 'click' as the receiver switches over, a moment of silence from the receiver and then a 1-2 second delay before the HD audio kicks in.
In essense, I see the first few moments of the film without sound. Once the sound kicks in, there are no syncing problems, but the sound delay itself is my issue. This is normally not a problem with most films, but a few films ('Wall E' comes to mind) start with sound immediately out of the gate, and I'm missing a good 2-3 seconds of the opening audio. Again, most films don't contain any real sound for the first few seconds, but movies like Wall E make this delay really noticeable.
Again, I did a pretty exhaustive forum search before posting this topics, and I apologize in advance if this has been covered before. Most of the other HD audio delay threads seem to concern sync issues, not the brief moment of silence before the receiver clicks and starts decoding the HD audio.
Anyone have some insight on correcting this problem? I've considered pausing the film the moment in starts, giving the receiver time to 'catch up' then restarting once I see the 'True HD' light come on.
My thanks and regards,
