Dexter Season 4 - Page 4

Antone is too tall.  The reporter is exactly Matsuka's height.  :)

How tall is Lundy's wife?   :)
I think the height thing is stupid.  What if the shooter squated down behind something for the shot?
I agree.  All you can really tell from her wound is the height the gun was at.  And why didn't Dexter figure that out.  Do blood spatter analysts only work on dead people?
Antone can be as tall as they want him to be at this point.  They've never specifically stated how tall he is or that he's a "tall guy" ("big guy" isn't necessarily the same thing).  If it is the reporter, that would be really weak, but it would explain why she continues to get screen time and Quinn even gives her the time of day.

Or if they were sitting down.. or in a car :)

I agree that the "shooter's height" detective work seems weak, but there it is. The reference to the "big guy" line was just a nod to a dark comic moment that made me laugh out loud. Anton is pretty tall, though:

I don't think it's Quinn, but...?

The height thing sure seems to point to the reporter but that seems too obvious. I am thinking it could be Trinity's son.  He may know his father's secret and was protecting him.  I think the son is about the right height too.
I think you guys are over-analyzing the height thing.  I think all it does is exonerate Trinity since it's been made pretty obvious how tall he is.  But as was stated before by others, the whole trajectory of the bullet thing does seem like a weak alibi.
The height thing only mattered when they thought Trinity was the killer, wasn't it? Since he has been murdering since the 70s, he's already an older man, who couldn't squat down very easily. Then they found out that he couldn't be the killer because of the height (Trinity is too tall) so it must be a shorter person. But someone else (someone younger?) could be squatting, couldn't he/she?

After the jig Trinity danced, I'm not putting anything past him. ;)

I might not be remembering correctly, but didn't Lundy's reaction tell us that he knew who the shooter was?
It seemed to be more a case of Lundy realizing there was a shooter.

Could be, but I seem to remember interpreting his reaction right away that he seemed to know the shooter.  As if almost to say, "You?"

I've always assumed it was Deb's boyfriend. Jealous of Lundy and angry at Deb.  I don't see a motive for the reporter or Trinity's son.
The son one is easy.  Protecting his dad.
The son would be weak.

I'm hoping it's Rita.

There's an entire direction left unexplored: Debs's inquiry into her father's old CIs. Who knows what she may have stumbled into? Lundy might just be collateral damage.

I think they've made it pretty clear that the shooter knew what they were doing, and wanted Lundy dead, and Deb alive.  So with that, I doubt that theory holds true, but I guess you never know.

But it's all circular reasoning. The "evidence" of the shooter's expertise depends on the assumption that the outcome was what the shooter wanted. The "evidence" that this was the desired outcome rests on the assumption of the shooter's expertise.

Basically, we don't know anything.

A poster on another forum had a good premise; the shooter was the reporter girlfriend who is under pressure to have a good story for the paper. She's the right height and it makes a tiny bit of sense.

A poster on this forum came up with that two pages ago.

Cool beans.
There are only 2 people that fit the height requirement and have had any screen time of note - the reporter and Trinity's son.  The reporter's line about her boss canning her if she does not deliver a story smells of misdirection.  Unless, there is a character to be shown still - a cheat in my opinion - or someone got down on a bended knee, it really only leaves one other possibility.  Well, two if you include Mazuka , but we can safely remove him from the suspect's list.
..or can we. muhahahahaha!

Either Trinity's kid or the reporter make sense. I'm leaning towards the kid.
If Dexter really does end up killing Trinity, he's really not thinking things through.  Even before the almost suicide on the roof, way too many people are meeting "Kyle".  It's really sloppy for him.  I know he hasn't been as careful lately as in the past, but this was especially reckless.
I agree, Joe. It's what I was getting to in post #82.  I'd rather see Dexter playing this smarter.

Indeed you did. However . . .

I find this latest development disappointing. It's the kind of buried "coincidence" that I expect from a different kind of show (of the cheesier variety). I'm referring, of course, to the final line of the episode.
Well let's see how it plays out, if Past Dexter's are any guide the next to last episode is where the fireworks really are then they tidy up in the final episode. So I expect Trinity will get his is the next to last, then we'll deal with Deb's Shooter...
