Dexter Season 4 - Page 5

Well, as much as I thought the possibility of the reporter being the shooter was really weak, at least with her being Trinity's daughter it makes a bit more sense.

That scene at Trinity's house when he went ballistic was pretty intense.  Actually had me at the edge of my seat which is very rare for me for a television show.

How many more episodes are there?  Three?

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Jeez...if you're gonna post to a thread at least read some of the posts in the thread.

I believe so - Sunday was the 9th and there's been 12 in each of the previous seasons.

I agree - I thought the confrontation was pretty intense, and then the car ride home with 'Harry' - it'll be interesting to see where it goes from here.  I assume that Arthur went to his daughter to get her to either find out about 'Kyle', or for her to take care of it for him.

Idle thought: Do we know for sure if Elliot's GF really moved out after the fight seen through the rear window? Maybe she just "disappeared".
At least Rita might feel guilty enough to give Dex some extra latitude.
Jim, with this show that's a very good thought.

Also, it's a shame to see a classic Mustang convertible get beaten up like that.
It killed me to see that Shelby GT500 get brutalized even if it was probably a replica.
Last night's Dexter rocked - going to make for a heckuva of a finish.
It was another great one.  The previews looked killer too.  They make it so hard to have to wait the week for the next ep.

Looks like we won't get to see the reporter chick in anymore 'good' scenes.
Hehe.

BTW - in case it is not well known she is Brandon Routh's wife.

It was another great episode. I expected the kid to survive but they were still very tense & creepy scenes. The next two episodes look to be great as well!
Agree Greg.  Kept waiting for Trinity to explode during those scenes.
So I wonder how Dexter got out of that situation where Arthur left the scene with the boy.  Anonymous 911 call I guess?

Definitely wish I didn't watch the previews:

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
They revealed Trinity figuring out Kyle's true identity.

Whoa.  The reveal in the previews was a real flash forward because it took the whole damn ep for it to happen; but damn was it a stunner.

The whole episode was packed with a lot of tension and back and forth.    I cannot wait for next Sunday now ;)

Great episode.  Dexter was stretched past his limits and Trinity took advantage of it.  The closing shots were awesome.  Next week should be a real capper.

Despite the continued excellence of the performances, I'm finding each new episode more trying than the last. The plot is no longer driven by character but by writers' tricks designed for "twists" (the same approach that has made 24 such as bore and threatens to take down Damages). The reporter being Trinity's daughter is the most obvious example. Dexter being so easily manipulated by Trinity in episode 11 (lured to the amusement arcade so that Trinity can follow him) is the most recent. And as I said to my wife after the episode concluded:

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
"If Trinity turns out to be Dexter's father, I'm outta here!"

Expect to be watching your last episode of Dexter on Sunday because that will surely be the case.

Reagrding the spoiler

Would Miami Metro have Dexters DNA?  Wouldn't it of popped up when searching their database?

I see you on the main page.

Shrug.

Not getting the feeling of contrivance.

The reporter being Trinity's daughter is a twist and not a trick.  As to Dexter's being fooled by Trinity, I felt the episode did a fair job of showing Dexter juggling a lot of balls ie the mirror shot was a nifty visual representation of that. His juggling of his passenger, all of various personas -real and fake, and his not-so external facade anymore ie the need to get Trinity versus the need to be a brother to Deb gave a valid reason as to why Dexter slipped up.

What?

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Where's this idea that Trinity is Dexter's father coming from? That doesn't make any damn sense. And didn't he prove who his father was in Season 1?

I realize that they've this background story running and something about his father will likely be revealed, but that just can't be it.

It was my (mocking) way of characterizing the style of plotting that I so dislike about this season. I never expected anyone to take it seriously. And truly, if it turns out to be right, I will stop watching, because the show will have jumped the shark and been eaten by it.

I take your point about season 1, but I don't remember the details. Writers are endlessly inventive when it comes to loopholes. That's especially true if they're willing to toss aside logic, consistency, character and history, all for the sake of giving the audience a jolt. Dexter isn't there yet, but the signs are troubling.

I've got no real issues with this season (other than the whole Angel/Laguerta yawn-fest).  This season has been MUCH better than the last.

As for Michael's (not really) spoiler:

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I was joking in my response (sort of), but yes, in season 1 his biological father supposedly died and left Dexter his house.  Dexter, Deb and the Ice Truck Killer went to go check it out.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the writers are regretting that episode and wishing they could make Trinity his father.

^^ Too much mocking!!!

I took your reply as an actual spoiler, Scott. I thought each season so far had been based on one of the series of novels.
We mock, we mock.  (Sorry Zack!)

On another note (regarding previews)...

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Didn't one of the previews a couple episodes ago say there was a big twist or surprise at the end?

Well, Lithgow was recently interviewed, and the episode title has now been leaked..

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
The Getaway
So who knows what that means.. but could be a very interesting shift in the show!

It being a slow, rainy Saturday where I live, all I can do is think about Dexter's season finale tomorrow. REALLY trying not to spoil anything for myself but couldn't resist reading a few theories.

A started watching Dexter right before season 4 using Showtime On Demand. I thought I would "Give it a try" and now it's become one of my favorite shows. Having instant access to Seasons 1-3 was great but now waiting each week for this season's episodes has been pure torture. I'm pretty sure I'd call season 4 my favorite yet.
Season 2 has the been standout season for me.
I'd say a toss-up between 1 & 2.  Season 3 was very weak other than the last 2-3 episodes.
have been getting  dexter dvds at the local library  as we do not get showtime  just watch season 1 and 2  will be getting season 3 soon  my wife and i really like this show

HOLY MOLY

(SPOILER SPACE)

The finale five minutes are STUNNING material.  The entire episode was just a force, you just felt as though the plot and pace was so breakneck fast, every moment everything could change.. incredible stuff, but the final scene?  INSANE.  Damn, I love this show!!!
