Help: 1080p won't work on my HT

So here's what i'm using:

PS3 as blu-ray player
Denon 2310 receiver
Panasonic PT-AE3000 projector

if i connect the ps3 directly to the projector.. 1080p works.. but if i connect the ps3 to the receiver then to the projector, it can go up only til 1080i.. what seems to be the problem? I know my receiver can upscale to 1080p

and i tried changing cables, but no luck

BTW: I'm using HDMI cables for everything.

HELP!!!

my best guess is it has something to do with HDCP. maybe running it through the reciever messes with the Copy protection through the hdmi and won't allow full 1080p. I am no expert, just trying to get the ball rolling on your trouble shooting. you may search "recievers and HDCP" and see if you come up with anything.

don't think it's HDCP; HDCP problems would usually show up as "HDCP not authorized" messages.  It's more likely problems with EDID.  What are the receiver video settings right now?  List them.  There should be a combo of settings to disable video processing on the Denon, at least for HDMI sources.

Do you have the PS3 on forced 1080p output or "automatic"?

hmmm.. i don't have the list of settings right now.

But for the ps3, even though i force it to 1080p or "automatic" it stutters constantly, if i uncheck 1080p output and leave 480, 720, and 1080i checked.. everything goes well

I would try turning most of the relevant video settings on the Denon related to upconversion off.  Seems like you should complain to Denon support since it ought to pass 1080p through regardless.

ok.. i've solved the problem.. i changed the video settings of the Denon to 1080p 24Hz.. :D

What's the difference between a standard 1080p and a 1080p 24Hz.. because 1080p won't work?

Thanks in advance guys
