Will I underpower these speakers with my receiver?

I read up on some older posts on here so I tried to do some homework but got some mixed reviews, basically I have a HK AVR247 receiver and am looking at a pair of Yamaha NS-555's for the fronts.  I believe the speakers are rated for 100-250 watts and my receiver only puts out 55 watts a channel. 

Will I be okay with this setup, I am running a sub also with this.  As for music, I really won't use this much for music, mainly movies and I like my movies fairly loud.  Thanks for the input.

The 100 wpc rating is a "Nominal" rating not a minimum rating. What Nominal means depends on who you ask. I understand it to mean a continuous power rating with the 250 number being peak power.

In any event, don't be too concerned with these numbers. H/K is more realistic with their amps ratings and I bet it will power those speakers just fine.

There is no such thing as 'underpowering'.  If that were true, then every time you turned down the volume then you would underpower speakers.

I just picked up these speakers today and have a small question that I think I know the answer to but I figured I'd get a second opinion.  The back of these have two sets of + and - hook ups, one for the tweeter mid driver and another for the dual 6 1/2's.  It says to run two speaker wires to each from one output in the rear of the receiver, basically creating a Y connection to each one.  Does it matter where I Y it off at, couldn't I do this right at the rear of the speaker to save some wire?

And why in the hell would their be two hook ups for one speaker, to me it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, why didn't they Y it off inside the speaker itself?

Those are bi-wire connections.  Electrically, it is almost identical if you just use some short jumper wires between the binding posts.  Running the pair of wires from your receiver will give you a slightly (very, very slightly) lower impedance but not enough to make a difference.

Yup, that's them.  I just hooked them up, I had some leftover 12 guage wire so I just ran two wires to each.

But I'm very impressed with the way these sound, I can't wait to watch a movie tomorrow.  The little one's sleeping right now so the wife won't let me crank on it, damn it!!!
