Pause when switch TV channels with HDMI

I have an Epson EX 70 projector connected to my receiver via the HDMI Port.  I am using an old vcr as a TV turner to get cable TV.  It is connected to the receiver via the S-Video port.  I am experiencing a no HDMI signal pause for about 10 seconds when I switching TV channels on the remote.  Any idea what is causing this.

It sounds like your VCR may be momentarily dropping its video signal when you change channels. This is probably causing the receiver to drop its HDMI video signal to the projector, and it then takes a few seconds for everything to reconnect after the VCR begins sending a video signal again.

You could try turning off HDMI control on the receiver and projector to see if that helps.
