Sharpenss and Red Push Settings

I went through the Avia II set up.  Brightness, contrast, and blue color settings were easy to set up.  I am having a couple of problems though.

1.  Sharpness.  I cannot discern any difference in the sharpness test pattern from 0 setting to the 100 setting.  I know it should be set low, but I can't tell if there is any difference!  What is a good point to set it at?

2.  Red Push.  On the red push screen, it appears I am in the +5% range.  According to the video, this is noticeable.  I don't have any red setting to adjust (only color and tint).  Is there anything I can do?

1. I can't help, but will add that I had this problem also.  I wound up ingnoring the adjustment.

2.  You use the color to adjust red push.  It's a secondary adjustment for color.  Ultimately what you're doing is moving your color off of optimal to adjust for the red push.

Some sharpness controls have no effect at all - they seem to be placed there as a placebo. Just leave it on the low end if you can't see any difference.

There may be a way to fix red push in the service menu of your set, but you haven't listed the model number. It's also possible that there is no fix for the problem, even in the service menu, in which case you're best off dropping "colour" a few clicks.
