Advice for a speaker problem

Hey there everybody, first time posting here so please be kind!!
I need advice, i've had a pair of Misson speakers that i love and adore, they've never let me down until now :(
They were in my loft for a few months becuase i moved house and had nowhere to set my rig up, i aquired a new Denon reciver/6.1 amp from my dad and i brought my trusy speakers down and wired it all up and sadly all was not well.
For some reason, one speaker is very tinny and quiet while the other sounds just fine, im a computer/electronics whizz so i took it apart and swapped the cone and tweeters around to see if i had maybe blown one or damaged it somehow. I checked and re-checked they we all wired up correctly, which they were. Both cones and both tweeters work perfectly in the working speaker so i know i havent damaged them, but still the problem remains. I also tried bi-wiring them to see if it made a difference but sadly it didnt. It almost sounds like i've got the phasing wrong but i've checked everything for the past 4 hours and still no joy.
Basicly what i want to know is, is it worth trying to get the faulty speaker replaced because im pretty sure the problem lies in the gubbins where the input connectors are, or should i just buy some new speakers and bin my old ones. I dont want to get rid of them if i can avoid it becuase they really are fantastic speakers and i'l love to be able to use them again. Or does anybody have any idea how i might go about repairing them myself. If its gonna cost massive amounts of money, i'll just get a new pair but if its a cheap fix, i'll get it done!!
Any ideas??
Any help would be really appriciated, i'm going to try and find out the model number but it might be a bit tricky coz the sticker has faded and is unreadable. If any of you require any more info, just ask and i'll try to answer best i can!

Thanks people

Jim

Phase does not cause that pronounced a problem.  BTW, the "cone" is called a "woofer".  It sound like either there is a wire loose from the crossover in the bad speaker to the woofer, or the crossover itself is damaged.  Mission is decent stuff, so it is at least worth looking into further.
