I have a Sony STR-K502 (original owner). I haven't used it in a few years. I have it plugged in, I op-checked the speakers and they work fine with my other stereo system; however, I don't get sound when I have the sony speakers plugged in. There's a "sp. off" in red and when I press the speaker button, nothing happens, meaning, the "sp. off" doesn't un-illuminate.
