NEED HELP: Home theater newbie

Hey everyone,

This is my first post so I first want to say hi, i'll probably be on here frequently now....
I am a home theater newbie and a college kid... This past summer I have managed to pickup great deals on craigslist and ebay piecing together a theater system for this coming year... I need help! ... I recently just purchased a Samsung HT-Z210 off of ebay for very cheap. It said in the description that no speaker wire was included. I have had a lot of expierence with wiring speakers and what not so I didn't see this as much of a problem.... well today I finally recieved the big box and started checking everything out.... I have never seen these "pins" that the wires from the speakers plug into the reciever.. I have been googling all night and no luck in finding out what there even called. Can anyone help me find what I need to get for my 5.1 system? Thanks in advance!!!

Do they look similar to these?

or these?

The top ones are banana clips. I use them, and like them a lot. The other ones are just pin connectors. Banana clips are usually used at the receiver end of the speaker wire, and the pins are usually at the speaker end of the wire. Both are quick and easy connectors. You can find them at: http://www.monoprice.com/home/index.asp

Are you saying that you received the "pins" in the box or are you wondering what 'pins' to get because of the shape of the connectors on the receiver?

Most receivers that allow you to use banana clips also allow you to use bare wire.  Just unscrew the cap where the banana clip goes and you will see a hole to insert the wire.  Tighten the cap and you are good to go.

That's an HTIB receiver/DVD with proprietary speaker output jacks.  They kind of look like some connectors you might find on some computer motherboards, I'd look around some computer parts store to see if there's anything that would fit.

Hope you didn't bid too much in case you can't find anything.  Next time go for separate receiver, separate DVD, with standard connectors :).

I completely missed that the model was listed in the post.  Guess I'm too used to folks not listing their equipment...

Wow, thanks guys. Yeah Stephen Tu seems right on the money.... the receiver has 5 slots for the connections to the speakers.. each slot has two little pins. You think radio shack might have these hookups?

If I could just find out what this "pin hook up" is called I could go from there... I saw someone said "proprietary speaker jacks"
