New Mitsubishi Projection TV's (82737, 82837)

Curious to know if anyone owns one of the new 82" (or 73") Mitsubishi Projection TV's....

Here is a link to the 82" - http://www.mitsubishi-tv.com/product/WD82837

Looking to replace my 6 year old 65" Hitatchi Projection TV... and have the room to go much bigger.

Room is not dark enough to go the projector route... unfortunately.

Love the looks of the 82837 - wish it was a little less than the $5K sticker I'm seeing everywhere...

If anyone knows more about these new TV's - please let me know!

Thanks..

Every time I see these sets in the store they look TERRIBLE.  I don't know how much better you can get them looking at home, obviously if you already own one you know better than I do, but I'd take a smaller LCD over these guys any day simply for the brighness and sharpness that they seem to lack.  Or figure out a way to go to a front projector.

All sets in the stores look bad. They have the contrast and brightness cranked way up because of the lighting. A front projector is definitely the way to go. What is the problem that room darkening curtains and/or shades can't solve? Did you know that there are 3 new 1080p front projectors that cost $999? From Benq, Optoma and Vivitek. And more may be announced at Cedia coming up in Sept.

I saw these sets at a local store over the weekend.  Unfortunately they were put on the top shelf way above floor level so getting a good look wasn't possible.  The 82" was $3999 and the 73" was about $2700.

For the price of the 82, one would be better off buying a front projector/screen if that was an option.   The 73" really didn't seem all that massive (especially next to the 82":)and would make a nice set I think if one had the room.  The cost of a stand would need to be factored in also so you're looking at a $3k price tag when all is said and done.

Costco has both on their website and I'm hoping to see one or the other instore as we get closer to fall/Christmas season.  They have had some really good deals in the past on DLPs.  Last year, they had a Mits 73" with stand for about $2k.
