Panasonic dmp-bd55k problem, cable problem, or TV problem??

We have a BD55K hooked to our Samsung 850 series TV via HDMI with a top of the line Monster HDMI cable, and on the last two blu-ray movies I have watched, the sound has been making a staticy noise at different parts.

We don't have surround sound yet, this is just through the TV, so I'm kind of confused. Is it the cable, the TV, or the Blu-Ray player?? Any suggestions to fix this??

Thanks!

The only way to determine the culprit is to switch out parts.  Have a friend bring their Blu-Ray player and HDMI cable over.  First try the different HDMI cable.  If you still have static, try the different player.  If you still have static then it is the TV.  You could be over driving the amp section of the TV or overdriving the speakers.  Movie soundtracks are difficult to reproduce and TV sound systems aren't the greatest.

Gee I hope you can still return that Monster HDMI cable, top of the line means you probably spent 20-25x more than you were supposed to.  HDMI cables shouldn't be more than $1 a foot or so, monoprice.com is a good source to get them from.  Monster is a complete & total rip-off operation, it makes absolutely zero difference to get their top of the line vs. a $5 cable.

As for the static noise, it's hard to pinpoint a culprit without having extra equipment to test against.  E.g. swap the cable, if it's still there, not the cable.  Swap BD player, if it goes away it was probably the BD, if not it's likely the TV.  Did you internet order the stuff or get it locally?  If local you could perhaps bring the player + your BDs in, test vs. other sets.

So previous BD movies didn't have this noise?  Try them again see if they do now.  On the ones that do have noise, is it at consistent spots in the film if you replay the scene, or is it random?
