so i purchased a 3-gang 7.2 wall plate from monoprice. i found a 3-gang box at Home Depot but it seems the wall plate won't screw to the box. can any of you give me a link on a site that sell these boxes? thanks in advance!

NEMA is short for national electrical manufacturer's association, or something similar.  It should be that all the electrical boxes in the big boy's  toy stores or hardware stores are the same - I'm surprised that the wall plate does not fit it.

Normally, the elctrical box goes in the wall, then something is screwed into it ( switch, outlet, phone jack) and then a cover plate screws into the (switch, outlet, whatever)  Blank cover plates are made to screw right onto the lugs in the box.

Perhaps there is some sort of adapter gizmo that can screw to the box, then the plate will screw to the adapter.  You can find exactly that at Home Depot, Lowes, and Ace hardware.  It looks like a flat piece of metal with holes in it, usually curved side-to-side to leave clearance for whatever you might have attached to a cover plate.

Hope that helps a bit...

Hi gsxr310,

Any luck finding the 3-gang mounting bracket or the 3-gang box. I am in the same situation and thought you could help me.

Thanks,

i used a 3-gang box from home depot. any 3-gang box will work, just make sure it's rated for low voltage. the 7.2 wallplate from monoprice will fit. you'll have to unscrew the faceplate from the speaker terminals. then use the supplied screws to screw the 3 speaker terminals to the 3-gang box... and that's it. i originally thought the faceplate will screw into the gang-box. let me know if that makes sense....
