Hlly M-01 Loudspeakers on eBay

Anyone out there purchased these yet?  Manufactured in China; several pair on eBay for bid, or buy at $228.  Look beautiful but when I asked for detailed info, including reviews, the site referred me to "feedback" and "forums."  There are no forums on google discussing this product.  That raises a red flad despite the fact that there are many forums regarding amplifiers sold by the same firm.

Did a search on eBay for these, and got "0" results.
They sound like they could be white van speakers...........

i don't think these are a scam but worth$228?  only your ears will tell you.  i've looked at this company's t-amps and they get mixed reviews.  basically i think they are a real company and they are not complete junk, but they are not getting reviewed by serious publications, at least not yet.  if you can get them for $100-150 shipped it might be a good deal but for $200+ i'd want to be more confident of what i was getting.

I agree.  I don't trust companies that won't communicate.  I saw the mixed reviews on the amps as well.  The enclosures look great and the woofer is a good one, but what the hell is an AR tweeter?  If it is an Acoustic Research tweeter, that really puzzles me.  A mysterious product.

This got started because I woke up my little Mission 731i's and discovered how good they sounded with the Musical Fidelity X-150 and matching CD player.  It's successor (M71's) is supposed to be much better so I've been searching.

A fellow in Canada is selling a pair of M71's as part of a system but hasn't responded to my email and phone messages, thus, I've been combing the Internet, looking at other Missions, Wharfedales, etc.

I put a bid in on a pair of 781's this morningon Audiogon; a bit of a pig in a poke for me.

One thing I've relearned.  Playing good, inexpensive speakers with middle of the road electronics doesn't do them justice.  Once I connected these little creatures to the Musical Fidelity, they woke me up to their potential.

yes it is interesting what differences you can hear.  i don't believe in a lot of the hype about cables and i don't think there's a huge difference in the amp sections of similarly priced consumer level AVR's.  but every time i listen to a different combo of the gear i have at home i hear something new.  i recently got a pair of the csw model 6's which i've been eying for years.  while i do like them and think they are a great value, i was quite pleased that i could hear how much better my psb alphas sounded on the same avr.  a few years ago i compared 2 pair of speakers pairs with 2 amps and the results were rather shocking.  my 80wpc onkyo integra integrated couldn't hold a candle to my 40wpc 30 year old sony receiver paired with AR and CSW speakers.  the sony beat it in every category that i could hear with either speaker, the sound was clearer, more open, louder (not that i got past 3/4 on either dial), more dynamic, richer, etc...  it all seems so theoretical until you hear it with your own ears.  then it's just subjective...

Wow!  You have the Newtons.  I don't know much about them.  I sold Henry Kloss Advents for several years until Jensen bought the company.  I have one of the Cambridge CD player/radios.  It is nice.

I'm using an Outlaw 2150 receiver to drive Monitor Audio RS6's in the entertainment system.  Like both very much.

Usually, the AVR receivers ask so much from the power supply that it is difficult for them to compete with a well designed stereo receiver or amp.  I've heard some good ones but never trusted them enough to buy one.  I also didn't want the hassle of a surround sound system.  Just coping with a stereo installation is my limit.  I intended to add another sub to go with the MA's but the Athena P400 belies its price so I've stayed with it thus far.
