First home theater setup, I have some speaker options but it's a big room, advice?

Ok guys, I have been reading and reading for a couple months, but there are such mixed opinions and pros and cons on everything that I thought I would post what my room is and everything and get some help.

We have a 20 ft x 20 ft room (living room) that has a kitchen connected to it via two always-open entrances/doorways, a hallway connected to it, and another big entrance/hallway leading to the front door that is always open (doesn't have a door or anything) and leads to the front door, and another sliding doorway that connects to another hall. So there are like five entrances or hallways connected to this room. Also, it has 9 ft. ceilings that turn into a tray ceiling or whatever it's called where it starts to pyramid upwards in the middle, and that goes to 10 ft. Our TV is in one corner of the room.

I have been looking at the ProCinema 800 system and the ProCinema 1000 system from Def Tech. I have read where lots of people like these systems, would the 1000 be enough for this room. We like it loud, it needs to really feel like a home theater.

That seems to be the best 1500$ system to me (the ProCinema 1000), what you guys think?

Loud is subjective.  I think I listen loud and it is 20db below reference.  Do you want reference levels?  Your biggest issue will be the bass.  You won't get the sub 20hz bass in that room without doubling your budget and putting all of it towards subs.

Audition the system and see if it gets loud enough for you.  Then remember that sound drops 3db every time you double the distance between you and the speaker.

The problem is I can't audition any system. All we have within like 100 miles is a Best Buy without Magnolia... Decided on Ascend Acoustics with SVS sub, but really need to know what a/v receiver. One with good video processing, unlike Onkyo's lower line stuff that uses Fujida

I wouldn't worry about Faroudja, even if you are not crazy about the processing you can allways bypass it.  One of the problems I have found with dealing with Best Buy is there poor selection of recievers.  I would be more concerned about reciever models that are only rated at 1KHz than having a Faroudja chip.  The SVS sub is a great choice and the Ascend's will most likely do a good job.  Another problem with some of the lower end recievers is the lack of anolog inputs, anolog outputs and a limited number of component video inputs.  Onkyo also only rates there component video to 50MHz, this is done all the way up to there TX-SR806.  Alot of the lower end receiver cut corners but you just need to figure out what cut corners you can live with.

What is your budget?

I have been looking at receivers for some time and I am on a budget and still trying to put money away to buy one.  I really do not like the newer light weight recievers that feel like toys when you pick them up.  They are rated at 1KHz and use small transformers and a few of them look like cheap plastic.  For me I want something better than BB carries so along with there really poor customer service I honestly would avoid them if at all possible!

Have you considered buying from a reputable online dealer?  That at least would give you access to a wider varity of brands and models.

I have owned Onkyo Integra in the past so I do not have problems with the brand.  I might even settle for a Onkyo TX-SR805 if I can't get the money for a Denon AVR-3808ci, and if I can get a super great deal online.  The only big draw back on the 805 that I am aware of and there may be others, but the scaler is not all the great.  The amplifier sections is great though and it has alot of input options and you should be able to find one really cheap.  Oh almost forgot that with the 805 Onkyo you need some really good ventelation becuase it runs hot!
