Isolating Front-B speakers

Hi all I am new to this forum. I have a Denon AVR-2308ci and am having a heck of a time setting up my new pair of outside deck speakers. I want to isolate them from the rest of the system. I connected them to the Front-B connectors and they turn on fine and work when switched to B, the problem is my sub still is active. and if I try to listen to music channels on TV the surround back stay on also. Is there a way that when I put on the FRONT B speakers I can get everything else off and just have the Front- B. I tried to change the parameters in the menu and that worked, however it is very complicated, and must be changed back in order to use the surround system. ( not user friendly for the wife) I also tried to connecting it to the surrround back/amp assign connection but it did not shut down the main surround speakers. Any thoughts?

Connect to the surround back, assign the speakers as zone 2.  To shut down the main speakers just hit "mute" with the remote controlling the main zone, you can then switch to zone 2 to control volume on 2nd zone independently.

I could not get it to work. How should I assign the surround back speakers to Zone 2? Is that the same as amp assign?

Yes, amp assign.  There's a "multi-zone" section in your manual, just follow the instructions relating to "zone 2".
