I've got a battle tested, 6 year old Onkyo 'home theater in a box' (HT-R510) that has been acting up. It appears to have something to do with humidity because I remember this happening a few times last summer and now it's getting humid again and doing the same thing.
The unit will turn on and as is typical, will take a few seconds to 'click' into the surround mode, but the indicator lights for "DTS", "Neo:6" and the rest never load onto the display no matter what mode it is in and most function buttons do not respond. Obviously, there is no sound either.
I leave the thing on for a few minutes with a fan aimed at it and usually between 5-15 minutes later I'll restart it and it'll be fine.
Is this something that a good cleaning might cure, or could there be a quick-fix? It's been a great unit and I'd hate to kick it to the curb, any thoughts or suggestions?
