Anyone familiar with Cerwin Vega LS-15s?

My current set-up is a pair of Large Advent's, a Crown comtech 810, and a Hafler DH101. I recently came across a pair of Cerwin Vega LS-15's in very nice condition that the owner just wants to get rid of, at $125 for the pair.

I'm not very familiar with these, or any Cerwin Vega speaker, and only know that they are big and boomy.

Is this a worthwhile deal???

Thanks,
Jason

Didn't you just ask this question a few days ago????

You want an opinion, I'll give you one.  Cerwin Vega has no business in any legitimate home theater.  They are good for frat houses and dance parties.  I put them in the same class that Fisher was in the 80's (big speakers that make kids want them, but sound like crap).  If someone gave me a pair, I'd sell them on Craigslist.

PS - I did not comment on the last thread because I feel you should listen to whatever you like.  If you like CV, get them.  But you keep asking for an opinion so......

No, that was about a different CV speaker:

However, both of these questions belong in the Speakers forum, where they'd be more likely to attract a larger response. Since we don't yet have redirect indicators here, I'll leave this thread here for now, but future speaker questions will be moved.

Just sizing up to speaker options for some friends.  They waited too long on the AT's and then these popped up.

I'd heard they aren't extremely detailed, and are more of a boom loud speaker, which is not what they're looking for.

Thanks for your help,
Jason

Yeah I'm sizing some speaker options out for some friends.  They waited too long on the AT's and these popped up so I figured I'd check it out.

Thanks for the opinion that's what I was looking for.  I had heard that detail was not their forte.

David You are sporting Fluance in your home theater and you are talking crap on CV's lol what a joke. By the way the LS line was still made in USA before the whole CV sale out, they are decent sounding speakers with a lot of power. Set them up right and you will not be disappointed.

Jeff,

Wrong forum.  AVS is the other way.

I'm sporting AXIOM and SVS in my home theater.  Fluance was a temporary setup to get started.  A very nice temporary setup for someone who is short on funds.

Anyway, nice first post.  You and your neighbors enjoy the CVs thumping up the street.

The OP's inquiry having been satisfactorily resolved, I'm closing this thread.
