Thinking of going projection, need help

A friend of mine has a projection monitor that has little use and 1080p capability, not sure of brand as of yet, I'll find out Friday.  He has no use for it and we're thinking of trading even up for my Dynex 42" 1080p LCD. (Best Buy's in store brand, bought it for the basement for $600 last year, something to watch while playing pool, etc, didn't need anything fancy down there........yet!)

My question is, without a screen, and darker tan, almost mocha walls, how well will this work for testing purposes if we just shoot it on the wall.  I have read up on the color scheme to use on the wall if I painted but I will eventually get a screen if I get this and don't want to get one before I test the projector to see if I like it, and that leads to my next question.  Can I get a decent motorized screen from ebay for cheap, or just get a regular pulldown.  I'd like to not spend more than $150-300 on one.

I have access to my ceiling for a ceiling mount also, should I obviously wait to mount this also til I get a screen, I'm new to all this so thanks ahead of time.  I believe the projector he said is rated for 100' or 108" in width, not diagonally.  How big of screen should you look to get due to size capability, and yes I know bigger is not better.  I was thinking a 50"x80" but would love 100" wide if possible.

Any recommendations on a projection screen?  I'd like not to spend more than $300 and want a larger screen.
