What heartbreak -- not just for Tom, of course, but for all of us who invested 6+ hours today watching and hoping he could hang on.

I was really pulling for Tom. Growing up, he was my favorite golfer. It would have been an amazing story had he pulled it off. He was just a little long long with that 8 iron into 18 -- had he hit a 9 iron, he probably would have won. Watson even said afterward that he was trying decide between 8 and 9.
It was a still an amazing feat to watch. No golfer of that age has ever come so close to winning a major.
