Sony DH700 problem

I have Sony DH700 receiver and Bravia W4500 TV. I connected them through HDMI cable. They identify each other and audio works fine, but I have problem with video. I can switch betwen sources but only audio gets through. Can this receiver send video signals from analog inputs through HDMI cable to TV like it does with video signals from HDMI inputs? Somehow I can't get analog video to TV.

No, this receiver doesn't "upconvert" from analog inputs to HDMI.  You have to go to almost 2x more expensive receivers to start getting that feature.

You have to connect video from the other monitor outs to the TV, for each different type of source you have.  To automate switching, since you have to then switch both receiver +TV, I recommend getting Logitech Harmony universal remote.

I understand that digital and analog signals can't be mixed and this receiver doesn't "upconvert" analog signal. I also did connect analog output from receiver to analog input on TV. But I would expect that if receiver know how to switch TV to HDMI input when I want to see signal from receiver HDMI inputs, it would be the easyest thing to send similar command to TV to switch to one of analog inputs where the analog signal from receiver is. I tought that BRAVIA® Sync is made of such clever thigs. Now it seems that I must switch off this functionality when I watch analog signals through receiver and need to switch it on again if digital source is active.
This is stupid, and I can not believe that SONY made something like this.
When you have communication betwen two devices which both you made (same factory) you can make anything you want.... or maybe not !!!??

Bravia Sync only works with up-to-date HDMI devices.  It is not so easy to make things as clever as you'd like it, when dealing with older legacy inputs.  HDMI is easier, since the DVD when turned on can just basically tell other side "hey, turn on & switch to this input now, wherever I'm connected", using std agreed upon protocols by all the major manufacturers.  Can't do that with composite/component since there's no intelligence on the input, it's just an analog voltage representing a video signal.  Instead you'd have to add protocols for the TV to tell the receiver what legacy inputs it had, and add UI for the user to tell the receiver which input on the TV to use for each analog connection.  It could be done in theory, but they were aiming for something very simple for people who only used new components with HDMI, not something that required complicated setup.  Also it's HDMI-CEC so supposed to be compatible with other brands, which explains its simplicity even though they'll only claim working with other Sony Bravia.

You shouldn't have to switch the feature on/off.  Just have to hit the right input button on the TV when you switch to analog.  The Harmony remote is the better solution for all this anyway, works with any type of input, any mix of brands of components, any old component.  With Harmony can turn this feature off completely.

Well, probably you are right about simplicity of Sony Bravia.Since I do a lot of programing for industry and communications and GU interfaces for controling warious complicated processes, I see a lot of possibilities how simple can such things be done. Seems my demands are to big.
Now I have already accepted the facts about our debate since there is no other way. Maybe I will try with Harmony some day. 
Anyway, thanks for your opinions and interpretation. At least now, I am certain that I didn't do nothing wrong and the receiver is a little weak. Thanks!
