Got a quick question not sure if this is the right forum but here goes. I was talking to my old man tonight he wants to buy the following components for a home theater.

Samsung Series 7 LCD TV
http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/detail/detail.do?group=television&type=television&subtype=ledtv&model_cd=UA55B7100WFXXY

and the following HTIB
http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/detail/detail.do?group=mp3audiovideo&type=hometheatre&subtype=hometheatresystems&model_cd=HT-BD1255W/XSA

Now what he wants to be able to do is to set up some sort of network storage device and be able to stream movies/ pics/ music from such device he also may want to do this wirelessly. He also wants to know that this player upsacles DVD but wants to know does it upsacle other file formats eg avi/divx/xvid. If not is there anything that does or is it not worth it.

Any suggestions would be a help.

Thanks Paul

Network storage, just do something like connect a NAS drive to his wireless router, something like a Western digital WDH1NC10000N.  (Router also presumably plugged into this HTiB).

Upscaling -- it probably does upscale, but tell him it really just doesn't matter since if the player doesn't upscale, the TV itself will.  A lot of people don't understand that upscaling in players/receivers are redundant to the upscaling in the display.  One or the other just might be slightly better at it but there's usually little difference.
