Any episode information?

Thanks Ron... I just recently got the vol. 1 sets for Father's Day. So I must have the vol. 2 sets to go with them!

I can't wait to see the list of cartoons for this set.  At first glance, it looks like there is no Scooby Doo show.  With the 1960's set, I would think they could put Huck and Yogi on there to help raise awareness of their box sets so they can sell more like they did with the Jetsons and Top Cat.  I see Touche Turtle so I hope Lippy the Lion and Wally Gator will be on the 1960's set as well.  I am pleased to see "Inch High Private Eye" and "Help!  It's the Hair Bear Bunch."  The theme song from "Hair Bear Bunch" is very catchy. 

Is it me or does it seem like these collections will be the only way we'll see some of these series on DVD?

Johnny Cipher in Dimension Zero was an awesome cartoon. I am shocked and excited to see it included. It looks like a really good collection for vol. 2. I would still like to see some of  these cartoons released as complete series.

I don't think that listing of the shows for the 60's set is correct.  First of all, Touche Turtle is on the cover but there is no mention of his cartoon(s) anywhere in the list.  Also, Tom & Jerry are on the 1970's volume, not the 1960's. 

That's not a bad list, but I saw Samson from Young Samson on the cover. Is there any episodes involving it.

  lack of Banana Splits better mean they are going to put it out as a big solo release - especially with the CN relaunch

From the seventies cover, I'm guessing Help! It's the Hair Bear Bunch, Inch High Private Eye, Sealab 2020, Shazzan, Valley of the Dinosaurs.

That's a pretty good line up for volume 2 of the series, I hope Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kids still make it.

I'm not too sure about the contents listing of the sixties set is right either. I see a Superman listing, but it's not in the right "spot." and no mention of the David character that is on the box art.  Oh well. Here's hoping there's a volume three. ---James

'60s boxset lists Tom & Jerry, but they're on the '70s cover
also '70s cover has Sealab and inch high private eye, but there's no episodes listed

Some of the listings for both these Vol 2  60's and the 70's sets were already on the volume 1 sets.
Got to be a mix up.   I remember the first press release for the volume one dvd had shows
listed that were not on the DVD when released.    Looks like the same mistake again on this
press release.

That's exactly how they listed the Volume 1 set. And it looks like the three cartoons from the second episode are included. Let's hope this next shuffle doesn't bounce this out as well!

If this set doesn't include: Help! It's the Hair Bear Bunch, Inch High Private Eye, Sealab 2020, and Valley of the Dinosaurs, like is shown on the cover art, I'm going to be very disappointed.

I want more unreleased shows.

They also have an episode of the Jetsons on both sets they have episode 2 on the 60's set and episode 3 on the 70's set.  And Jetsons only went that first year in the early 60's and then did not go to season 2 until the 80's so not sure why they would have it on the 70's set.

I watched the online preview and it brings up more questions than answers.  For example, they show Mr. Bigot from “Yogi’s Gang” as one of the villains featured.  Touché Turtle, Lippy the Lion and Wally Gator are all in the trailer.  On the box cover art is “Inch High Private Eye”.  The listing says that Scooby Doo is on the set but there is no picture of him.  I wish they would put an episode each from “The Huckleberry Hound Show” and “The Yogi Bear Show” on the 1960’s set to help promote those box sets like they have done with Magilla Gorilla, Hong Kong Phooey, The Jetsons, Batman and Top Cat.

 

With all of that said, though, I can’t wait for these new sets no matter what is on them.  They look fun.

Yes, you are correct.  Ted Knight did the voices of the Penguin and the Joker in the 1968 series.

These sets are great ideas and they give reflection for a lot of material that could be used on them.  It would be great to see the H-B specials from "The Saturday Superstar Movie" on DVD collection some day.

Actually, it was from the 1977 series (from SMC 1970s Volume 1), wherein Joker and Penguin were voiced by Lennie Weinrib.

Where is the 1968 Batman & Robin series DVD?
The Superman/Aquaman hour of Adventure stuff 
has been out, the rest of those filmation cartoons
would be nice!

Yeah, clearly they haven't worked out all the bugs on this. The contents not only don't match the artwork, but they also indicate a lot of duplication from the Vol. 1 sets.

Furthermore -- the majority of the shows listed for the 1970s set are actually from the 1960s.

It doesn't matter, though -- I'm looking forward to finding out what is really going to be on these sets. I would much rather have full season sets or series sets for the various shows, but if this is what's available, then this is what's available.

I'm particularly excited to see the Banana Splits released -- according to the description, it's the first show (or some kind of attempted reconstruction of same) -- which is from 1968 (so of course it's on the 1970s set). Wonder how they'll do with that one. The Vol. 1 sets both had disclaimers about not to expect pristine restoration -- maybe they won't be afraid to give us the complete original one-hour version, which they have in 16mm, with a few skits not seen in syndication, and the original Season 1 opening and closing -- as far as I know, not seen in the United States since 1969. I'd much rather have that than -ahem- just slapping together the first two re-edited Boomerang half-hour cut-downs.

As regards The Porky Pig Show: according to this page, it's show #3, originally aired October 4, 1964. But can we expect any content (apart from the three shorts) that would be different from the show included on Volume 1 (any different interstitials, for instance)?

I’m very glad to see that The Porky Pig Show is authentic! 

 

My doubts about “Scaredy Cat” were because I recall seeing it as a “Blue Ribbon Release” – and I didn’t think that Blue Ribbons ever got out of syndication and into a network package. 

 

I still think that a full and complete Bugs Bunny Show belongs on the sixties volume – and, not to mention a Filmation Batman-Superman Hour, so we can finally get an official sixties Filmation Batman! 

There used to be 2 separate syndicated cartoon packages distributed by Warner Bros. in the United States (pre-1990). One was called Bugs Bunny And Friends (100 cartoons) and the other was called Porky Pig And Friends (156 cartoons). This is in addition to the a.a.p. ones which were under separate ownership at the time. The Porky Pig syndicated package was half (78) redrawn colorized Looney Tunes and half (78) post-1948 cartoons which formerly had aired on the Saturday morning Porky Pig Show in the 1960s. So yes, they did air on network TV in the US, but not for a long time.

If they include the Superman/Aquaman episodes as mentioned, I hope they can include the original Superman/Aquaman Power Hour Introduction that popped up on the internet last year, but was not included on their respective DVD's.

I think that opening is hilarious. So sixties before themes went a bit more "rockish."

Also, does anyone have a guess, when we might hear a more "correct" update on the DVD's contents?

That's what i'm hoping for.   It's too bad the original theme isn't on youtube anymore,
that poster, whoever he was, had some really great bumpers too.   I'm surprised he
hasn't joined any of the forums that i've seen.
