Hooking up tv

I just moved to another apartment complex and had my cable tv account transferred to the new place. The apartment is cable ready but when i connect the cable from the wall to my tv i can't get any channels. Not even the locals ones 2-13. I lost the remote that came with the tv years ago so i use a universal remote. Does that make a difference? I even hooked up my vcr to the tv and had it search for channels but i still get no stations. I didn't need a cable box at my old apartment so my tv is cable ready.

Contact your cable company...they would be more suited to help you with your problem.
