New member here, sort of. Used to be a HTF member about 8 years ago, but once I got fully set up I drifted away from the forum.
So I have returned and need a little help.
A little background first.
My set up is a full set (7 channel) def tech speakers, 2 apms, Rotel 1090 and a 1095.
I used to be a RSP-1098 owner, but had a problem with static on the unit after almost 5 years, and no amount of warranty work fixed it. Had the unit into Rotel 5 times and no luck. I was going out of my mind, and my HT was down for alomst 3 months. I had finally had enough.
I bit the bullet and picked up a cheap H K AVR-254 to get me by until I decided to get serious about home theater again.
Well that time has come.
I popped in an old fav, the Matrix, and man o man did it sound flat as a board. I was heart broken. This used to be my reference disc, now... meh.
So I am in need of advice dear forum gurus.
I am in need of suggestions. I have been out of the HT game so long I have no idea what is out there and a lot of things have changed.
I have a budget of about $3000, and I need something comperable to the old RSP-1098 sonically.
The theater is primarily used for movies (blu-ray) and gaming.
Any advice you have would be great.
