I dont know what went wrong

I hade my home theater hooked up for about 2 years with no problem. I unhooked everything so I could paint my home theater room. I hooked evrything back up the way it was and now when I turn my reciever on or off my two subwoofers pop. They never did this before. And I am the type of person that wont be able to sleep until I can fix this problem. My subwoofers are pluged into a monster cable power strip like they always were. Could somebody please help me asap. Thanks

Could be so many things.  Does the system work properly?  My guess would be that the audio inputs to the subs are not connected to the right output on the receiver.

I would just take a second look at all the connections and make certain they are correct.
